Lake George, New York is one of the cleanest bodies of water in the United States! Known as "The Queen of American Lakes," through the years, visitors to the Lake George region brought with them boats and bait for fishing that slowly took hold here at the lake. Identified and known as 'invasive' species, these aquatic species are known as "Zebra Mussels," and Eurasian Milfoil." Chances are you will not see these small aquatic mussels, or aquatic plant, and Golden Sands Resort being located in a natural sand deposit makes it nearly impossible for those species to take hold in our bay; nevertheless, visitors to Lake George, NY motels should be aware that their boat propellers and bottom may have an "aquatic hitchhiker!"

Guests bringing boats of any kind to Lake George, Ny perhaps should check and wash their propellers and boats, as well as use caution when bringing their own bait to fish to ensure no invasive aquatic species are inadvertently released into the waters of beautiful Lake George, New York.



Check your boats for visible mud, plants and fish life;
Drain water from your hatches, bilge and wells;
Pull your boat plug;
Inspect your boat;
Discard Live Bait buckets and related materials of non-native crayfish and minnows;;

According to a recent Adirondack Journal newspaper article, our Lake George, NY - Warrensburg, NY newspaper, www.adirondackjournal.com , Adirondack Pedal Cab Company, if approved by the Village of Lake George, NY, will bring to town ten to twenty cycle rickshaws (those that utilize peddle power). The Village, which already offers horse and buggy rides to visitors, hopes to enter into an agreement with the Adirondack Pedal Cab Company to bring to the village another attraction. Sites along Canada Street would be reserved for rickshaw pick-up and drop-off service, one site being in front of the Lake George Travel-Tourism Kiosk at the corner of Canada Street and Beach Road.

One basis for the application and attraction is "eco-transportation" which is fun, unique and novel! It's expected the rickshaws would provide a unique form of transportation, as well as transportation to areas just north and south of the village, servicing Lake George hotels and motels, restaurants, and other locations and attractions.

Cycle rickshaws are generally three-wheeled private use vehicles for hire primarily used in urban areas in Eastern countries, including the Asian-Pacific rim, and novelty transportation in many Eastern Countries, and may be covered. Pulled rickshaws, or people-powered two-wheel rickshaws (often constructed from bamboo) have ben replaced by cycle rickshaws as being more efficient and modern. Auto rickshaws are another form of transportation, and usually motorized.

The Adirondack Pedal Cab Company expects hours of operation to be from 9:00am until 10:00pm seven days/week during the Lake George, NY summer travel-tourism season, and will add to the Village charm and ambience, and make a great addition to the enjoyment of opportunities for families, and romantic couples, touring of Lake George Village.

St. Patrick's Day in Lake George Village

Saint Patrick's Day, celebrated this date, March 17th, celebrates the the arrival of Christianity in ireland, and found its way to become a cultural event in the 17th century! We all know the ... blah ... blah ... blah ... basic history of cinema here in America, but do we know the history of American Drive-in Theaters? Not really, but we love drive-ins just the same, where our children can dress in their pajamas, bring their favorite teddy bear and pillow, visit the snack bar, and hope to stay up late enough to see the end of the double feature movie to boast to their friend THEY stayed up late!

It's certainly a lot about an extension of America's love and affection for their cars, and here families, and romantic couples, enjoy movie entertainment and privacy from the comfort of their car; however, Drive-in's too are subject to real estate popularity and sold for their land value and development potential ... so ... enjoy the while they're still in existence!

It's purported that Drive-in movies originated in New Jersey ca. 1932, evidenced by patent, after using a nailed-up screen to trees, a Kodak movie projector, and perhaps handing out popcorn to those bold enough to attend an early showing, then, as usual with ingenuity and timely American comfort themes such as "fast foods," hot dogs, cheeseburger, pizza, candy,etc., (maybe even sneak in your quiet warm cuddly and loveable dog)! Drive-in movie theaters popped up all over America, literally from coast-to-coast! Ironically, early Drive-in movie theaters contended with highway noise pollution issues, and such problems ... yes ... caused creating of the volume controls wire-tethered portable speaker that either vibrated with garbled sounds, or as one drove off ripped from the car window! Yikes!

Post WWII America ushered in elaborate Drive-in's, some with heating and cooling devices to extend outdoor movie theater seasons, gimmicks to hook business and audiences, such as small petting zoos, and whatever, "fill up the car" nights, for, say one-dollar ..$1.00, and Drive-in's gained in popularity thoughout the 1950's and 1960's until their land value exceeded the business value of this outdoor entertainment we have come to enjoy and remember. Early 'Drive-in's showed second rate films, then quickly adapted to first-run and "double-features," the hallmark of any true "Drive-in" theater!

As Drive-in steadily declined in favor of land value, their revival was evident through not-for-profit Drive-ins, and even "Do-It-Yourself Drive-ins," where neighbors would try their hand at it, or "on the spot guerilla" movie screenings dovetailed with social events such as "Raves!"

Lake George, New York, now a popular family travel destination, has existed since the Ice Age, then inhabited by Native-Americans, in the 1600's discovered as "New World," played an important role in American 1700's history, and, then, became of interest for its natural pristine beauty (being close to urban areas such as New York City) as the family atmosphere and wholesome upstate New York travel-destination it is, has became, and has sustain to this very winter 2012 "Daylight Savings Time!" - March 11th, 2012.

Boating on Lake George, New York is probably as old as floating objects, and certainly played a role in transport and convenience, and sail power, via nature's winds, was, and remains, a natural sustainable power source since who really knows when? What we seem to know is that as far back as recorded time, depictions (pictographs) of "sails" appear in ancient Egypt ca. 3200BC. The Nile River supported boats made of reed and "square-style rigging," and sea trade routes developed. As time passed, sail and boat riggings logically modernized and optimized to speed and increase trade, and subsequent monetization, and, perhaps to facilitate aggression, sailing needs changed. Around 1200BC, Greeks and Phoenicians traded, thereafter, better hulls were engineered, trade continued to develop throughout Europe, and that should bring us to present day sailing for sport and pleasure!

Today, here at Lake George, New York, the use of "sail power" is clearly for pleasure, and competition (sport)! Lake George is a "tricky" sailing venue, as the Lake George 'basin" allows, or creates, wind bowls of effect such that one seem to feel quick, and even subtle, wind changes seemingly causing one to ever point into the wind and tack, heading and returning ... !

Lake George Regattas on Lake George were originally reserved for sailboats, and gradually over the years, sailboats slowly overtook powerboats regattas in favor of sailing regattas, held to date Wednesday nights (where on can sit on the beach at, for instance, Golden Sands resort on Lake George, as view sailboats on the lake competing for rank and displaying colorful "spinnaker sails" to "run" with the wind! Wednesday night sailing uses Lake George Long Island as a "point," and that island is directly in front of Golden Sands!

Why the long leader? Here Comes 2012 Lake George NY Americade Tour-Expo - 60,000 +/- motorcyclists!

Since ca. 1983, when a little known western motorcycle event moved to beautiful Lake george, New York, Americade Tour-Expo has grown in size and popularity to what is now advertised as "The World's Largest Motorcycle Touring Rally!" Americade, as best known by its followers, attracts up to 60,000+/- motorcycle enthusiasts from all over the world to historic Lake George, New York. How did our charming small historic lake become the beneficiary of such a national event ... it seems that the event's owner-promoter makes Lake George, NY his family home, and the rest should be simple motorcycle history!

Mr. Dutcher, an intelligent man with a Harvard University degree, loves motorcycles, worked with Harley-Davidson some time ago, and ca. 1971, a Ruidoso, New Mexico motorcycle rally entitled "Aspencade," after indigenous trees noted for their color brilliance.  Through Mr. Dutcher's interest, and drive, that "Cade," branched northeast to become "Aspencade East," now commonly known as simply "Americade,"  the name Mrs. Dutcher suggested and holds to date.

Lake George Americade dovetails well with the Lake George, New York community, and it comes at a time in June, this year June 4th thought the 10th, 2012, when the Lake George business community gears up for its yearly summer tourism season, primarily July and August, after which fall, and "leaf-peeping" season, quiet the lake in preparation for its hibernation during the long winter months. As March, 2012 rapidly progresses, even steams full throttle towards spring, 2012, and April 15th (tax day), slowly, Lake George, NY is emerging from winter hibernation.
